Happy World Prematurity Day!
written on Monday, 17 November 2014 @ 01:09 β
My son was born premature on May 08, 2014. He was 4 pounds 5 ounces and 19 inches long. He was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck and 2 knots. He had to be put on the ventilator for just 4 days because he couldn't breathe on his own as his lungs were not fully developed yet. Other than his lungs, he was perfectly healthy. After the first week, he was removed from the critical condition area and onto his incubator. He was in the NICU for a month. In that month after the 4 days being on the ventilator, he had some problems with feedings and regulating his temperature. He also developed a stomach infection called NEC (Necrotizing Enterocolitis). Thankfully that infection went away on it's own, had it not he would have had to have surgery. We finally got to take him home the day after his 1 month on June 09, 2014.
Today, my son Elijah is 21 pounds and 25 inches long. He is a diva. Sadly, I see myself in him already. If he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it. He will throw tantrums. He gets bored easily also. I would put him in his walker and not even 20 minutes later, he is already bored and crying to be taken out. Right now, he still has Hydrocele (water in the scrotum). We have an appointment with a surgeon that his doctor referred us to on Thursday. I hope that Elijah's doctor is wrong and that he will not be needing surgery. Praying for the best.
He is a miracle. No matter what. He is so loved by so many people, especially mommy and daddy. Although It is so hard and It takes full dedication, he makes us the happiest people on earth. With God by our side, there is nothing we can't go through.
Happy World Prematurity Day to all the preemies and preemie parents out there! All who have been through it know how hard It is, but still keep your heads up. I am here for all those who need someone to talk to. God Bless you all!

we live under the same sky
βTo put away aimlessness and weakness, and to begin to think with purpose, is to enter the ranks of those strong ones who only recognize failure as one of the pathways to attainment; who make all conditions serve them, and who think strongly, attempt fearlessly, and accomplish masterfully.β
- James Allen Quotes
Sometimes I wonder how people see me and what they think of me. It scares me a bit, honestly. I am sure though, that what they think of me,
what they think my life is, is a complete misperception. I have always tried to show myself as a carefree person, as someone who wont get bothered
because of public judgements. I am sure my friend and family think there is nothing going wrong in my life, that I do not worry enough, that
I am always happy. And I am sure they probably somewhat hate me for it because, lets admit it, there is nothing worse than seeing someone
who is life seems so perfect while yours is a complete mess. Truth is, I have become an expert at pretending. I think we are all experts
or at least we are getting there.
